Health is not the mere absence of disease. Health has nothing to do with the whimsical notions of RDAs (Recommended Daily Allowances) to prevent a handful of nutrient-deficiency syndromes, nor is it the "balanced diets" prescribed by doctors who practice drug medicine and consider nutritional medicine quackery.

Health is not the euphoria of eating, nor is it the denial of dieting. Health is not preoccupation with recycling past miseries, nor is it pre-cycling feared, future misery. Health is not living with regrets, nor is it an obsession with control in life.

So why do mainstream physicians shun the subject of health? The answer is really quite simple: None of the essential aspects of health defined in this chapter can be addressed with drugs. There are no drugs that make us spiritual or bring us gratitude and freedom from anger. There are no drugs that teach us the limbic language of silence or extinguish the oxidative fires of stress. Drugs cannot revive injured energy enzymes, nor can they repair damaged detoxification enzymes. There are no synthetic chemicals that can upregulate energy and fat-burning enzymes. Drugs cannot restore a damaged bowel ecosystem nor can they strengthen a weakened blood ecosystem. Drugs cannot normalize disrupted EM dynamics of the cell and plasma membranes.

Injured tissues heal with nutrients, not with drugs. Indeed, the tools of modern medicine—drugs and surgical scalpels—are singularly ineffective in coping with the stressors of life today and in promoting health.
