Yellow is Good for You!
Curcumin is prevalent in Indian food, and is a food additive that is brightly yellow in color. It is effective both as a free radical scavenger, and is also good at reducing histamine induced swelling. Curcumin is effective in reducing the biochemical pathways that induce swelling and pain; it also inhibits the various biochemical pathways that promote the growth and spreading of cancers within the body.[i]
Supplement SELENIUM
Selenium is a necessary component of glutathione peroxidases, and related compounds, which scavenge free radicals throughout the body. People with colon polyps tend to have low serum selenium, as well as low gluthathione peroxidase. More study is needed, but these preliminary findings suggest that selenium supplementation may help prevent colon cancer for those at risk.[ii]
Another Benefit of Green Tea Consumption:
Drinking Green tea stopped half of PGE2 prodction, (a protein involved in bodily inflammatory response in many tissues) in blood and rectal tissue in 70 percent of patients.[iii]
Meat Hurts the Colon:
Meat intake was examined in a study of men who ate low or high quantities of red meat daily; high meat intake was associated with higher n-nitroso compounds, (which are known to cause gene pair mutations in colon cancer), and is also as high in exposure range (of n-nitroso compounds) of those who smoke. Red meat showed higher nitrate output than white meat, and although increased fiber increased volume of fecal output in test subjects, it did not reduce nitrate output. (The dangerous compounds were still there) Study suggests meat consumption may be related to development of colon cancer.[iv]
Don't Throw a Tomato — Eat One!
People who had higher intake of foods containing lycopene, showed lower risk of developing prostate cancer, in a study that rated incidence of prostate cancer with various food intakes, including "carotenoids, retinol, fruits and vegetables." Although only the lycopene containing foods showed measurable association to reduction of risk, study suggests increasing all fruits and vegetables in diet, including tomato based and other lycopene containing foods, to reduce prostate cancer risk.[v]
Assist Your Colon with Hydrotherapy and Rid Yourself of Yeast!
Colon cleansing is an ancient practice that is based on the principle that disease can start in the colon. Fecal material can build up inside the body, by putrefying without being eliminated. This matter can contain remnants of old meals that went un-digested, medicines, metabolic waste from bodily biochemical processes, bacteria, viruses, yeasts, and parasites. This waste can not only leak into the rest of the body through microscopic fissures, but it can cause a syndrome entitled 'leaky gut', causing systemic allergies and distress throughout the body. The waste can also distend the colon, putting pressure on the other organs of the body, making it difficult for nutrient absorption, and putting undue pressure on the kidneys and liver to help with elimination.
A qualified colon hydrotherapist can help cleanse the colon by gently infusing the bowel with pure water that has been sterilized and brought to the right temperature. In addition, energy work may be done on the body at specific pressure points to relieve any energy blockages that might be present.
Colon cleansing has been reported by many practitioners to relieve symptoms of aging, skin texture, mental focus, relief from allergies. In addition, it can help release old fecal matter that can cause diverticulitis, constipation, and can reduce fatigue by reducing stress on the body.[vi]
Candidiasis (yeast) can be one cause of intestinal discomfort in the body. Yeast can live in every organ in the body, and can weaken the immune system. Use of oral antibiotics can increase Candida overgrowth and it can flourish within the skin, mouth, genital tract, and intestinal tract.
Yeast may flourish unchecked by its natural predators, when antibiotics are used. Some of the many symptoms of candidiasis may include: fatigue, low energy, irritability, anxiety, fear, depression, brain fog, memory loss, headaches, lightheadedness, joint and muscle pain, chemical sensitivity, cold hands and feet, genital or anal itching, palpitations, and a white coating in the mouth. There are skin and stool tests for those who are not sure if they have yeast infections.
As in eliminating food allergies, a simple elimination diet can be performed by eliminating one food at a time for several weeks. Once the suspected yeast forming foods are removed, they can be added back, gradually, one food at a time. When you do this, take note of each food's effect on how you feel. Although sugar can be a main source of yeast, other foods that may be yeast producing can include: refined and processed foods, flours, breads, products that use yeast as an ingredient, corn syrup, maple syrup, fruits, maltose, artificial sweeteners, fructose, cornstarch, sodas, and lactose. Also of note is that breads and other refined flour products can contain molds which can contribute to yeast production; avoid cheese, vinegar, smoked and pickled foods, alcohol, mushrooms, canned sauces, nuts, MSG, and HVP.
A healthy, natural foods diet should include whole grains, brown rice, millet, amaranth, quinoa, barley, fresh vegetables, tofu, miso, plain soy yoghurt, organic fish that are rich in omega 3 such as salmon, and extra virgin olive oil.
In addition, probiotics can help return healthy flora to the gut
