5 Iconic Foods from Disney (Part 2)

Let's take a look at more yummy foods from Disney movies!

Welcome to the second part of 5 Iconic Foods from Disney! Disney is just so great at making great food that we had to separate this article into two!

1. Grey Stuff (Beauty and the Beast)

A self-centered and arrogant prince is transformed into an ugly beast after angering an enchantress. The only way to break the spell is if he falls in love with someone and is loved in return. His servants, who had turned into household items during the curse, are also doomed for all eternity if they don’t help him fall in love.

When a beautiful girl named Belle ends up in the castle, the servants do their best to induce a romantic relationship between her and the Beast. They plan a romantic day for the two of them that ends with a fancy dinner and a dance. One of the hors d’oeuvres Lumiere serves is, for the lack of a better term, the ‘grey stuff’. Belle seemed to really enjoy it, though!

If you’d like to try the grey stuff for yourself, you can purchase it in any of the Disney theme parks or make it yourself. Apparently, it’s just a simple mixture of crumbled Oreo cookies, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream.

2. Crème Brulee (High School Musical)

High School Musical follows the story of Troy Bolton, who all his life was told he needed to be a basketball star. Then in his junior year, he meets a fellow high school junior named Gabriella Montez who helps him uncover a passion for singing. The pair of them ended up auditioning for the school’s musical despite everybody around them telling them it was a bad idea.

Luckily, their willingness to step out of their comfort zone encouraged other students to come out with their unlikely habits too! One of Troy’s basketball teammates, Zeke, shared that he had a love for baking. His favorite dish to make was the crème brulee.

There’s no need for us to describe what a crème brulee is when Zeke so helpfully does it for us below!

3. Breakfast Porridge (Mulan)

Mulan is an empowering movie that shows us girls can fight just as well as men do!

In a true act of heroism, Mulan takes her father’s place in the army, disguising herself as a male soldier. She knows that she will likely get killed because women are forbidden to join the military. Her family guardian, Mushu, and a lucky bug, Cri-Kee, come along with her for the ride.

On the first day of her training, Mushu wakes her up with a hearty serving of congee or Chinese rice porridge. It’s topped with two sunny side eggs and a slice of bacon to form a smiley face.

Mulan needs all the carbohydrates and the protein she can get if she wants to save China!

4. Snow Cones (Monsters Inc.)

The Abominable Snowman (or Adorable Snowman, as he’d like to be called) makes a special appearance in the first installment of Monster’s Inc. After Mike and Sully were banished to the Himalayas, the Abominable Snowman saves them from the cold. He is visibly excited to have company after some time and offers them suspiciously yellow snow cones.

Snow cones are just shaved ice served in a cone. They’re often flavored with sugary syrups like strawberry, bubblegum, green apple, and (ahem) lemon!

5. Birthday Cake (Sleeping Beauty)

Sleeping Beauty is a timeless Disney classic that has a very heartwarming scene that features Flora, Fauna, and Mayweather. The three fairies, who had adopted Aurora to protect her from Maleficent, are getting ready for Aurora’s upcoming 16th birthday.

Because they have gotten so used to magic, the fairies weren’t the best at making handmade birthday gifts. The dress they made was far too puffy, and the cake ended up melting as soon as it was set up!

Though they managed to bake a cake properly in the end with magic, it’s clear that lots of love went into making Aurora’s birthday cake. Knowing how kind-hearted she was, we’re sure Aurora would have enjoyed either one. It’s the thought that counts, after all.
