1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the most powerful oils in the world. Not only does it help you lose weight, fight off infections, stimulate the brain, and nourishes the skin, it also promotes healthy hair!

That’s because coconut oil is rich in vitamin E and other nutrients that are easily absorbable by the hair. By applying it to the length of your hair and letting it rest for a few hours, you can have thicker and glossier hair that will feel luscious to the touch. This can be used on all hair types—just make sure you’re using unrefined, organic coconut oil.

Additionally, because of its antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, coconut oil helps ward off any infections on your scalp and also pesky dandruff. It’s a much better alternative to anti-dandruff shampoo that’s loaded with chemicals that can irritate the skin.

Lastly, the bonus of coconut oil is that you get to smell like you just hopped off a Caribbean cruise!

 

2. Argan Oil

Argan oil is extracted from the argan fruit that is native to Morocco. It is an ingredient typically found in skincare products like lotions and moisturizers and hair products like shampoos and conditioners. Rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fatty acids, argan oil helps to nourish dry and damaged hair.

Using argan oil externally helps with cell production, which in turn leads to both healthy hair and skin. This is especially useful when you’re exposed to environments that damage your hair, such as a swimming pool or the sea. Argan oil protects your hair from chlorine and saltwater by locking moisture in if applied before swimming, and rejuvenates hair when applied after.

And speaking of protection, argan oil also helps to protect and repair your hair from high temperatures caused by curling irons and hair dryers too!

3. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Annoyed at all the white or gray hairs popping up? Extra virgin olive oil works to prevent those too! Maintain your hair’s natural color and stimulate growth of healthy hair by creating a mixture of olive oil, egg yolks, and cold water. Once mixed, apply liberally on your scalp and let sit for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing.

Have you got damaged hair? You can use extra virgin olive oil to deep condition your hair. Just get around a teaspoon or so of the oil onto your hair, making sure to cover everything but 1-inch of your roots. Ensure all strands are coated and heat it up with a hair dryer to allow it to penetrate. After 1-2 hours, rinse and shower well.

 

4. Pomegranate Seed Oil

Pomegranate seed oil is the quick and easy solution to frizzy or thinning hair!

It’s rich in punicic acid, which helps to rejuvenate hair. Just a few drops of pomegranate seed oil will leave your hair looking healthier, shinier, and thicker. It does this by really going deep into your roots and hair follicles, stimulating hydration without making your hair look too greasy or oily.

Pomegranate seed oil also has protective agents that shield your hair from a damaging environment, such as excessive sunlight.

 

5. Rosemary Oil

Now, if you’re really looking for something heavy-handed to get rid of those gray hairs, then rosemary oil is the one for you. Over time, using rosemary oil can darken the grays, so only use this if your hair’s naturally a dark color like black or brown.

To use rosemary oil, combine a few drops of it with a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba oil. We recommend using 15 drops of rosemary with 6 drops of carrier oil. Then, gently massage the mixture from your scalp to your roots until your hair is completely covered. Wrap it in a towel or shower cap then leave it on for a few hours, then shampoo and rinse as usual.

 

6. Avocado Oil

Avocados are famous in the food industry for being rich in fats, proteins, and vitamins, so it’s no surprise that avocado oil would be just as famous too. All those yummy nutrients work like magic on your hair follicles, giving them the nourishment they need to grow healthy hair. It also prevents future hairs from being prone to frizz and breakage.

To use avocado oil, apply a good amount of it on your scalp and strands. Go over it with a wide-tooth comb to help it spread and permeate. Then, wrap it up with a towel and shower cap and let sit for a few hours while you go do other things. Shampoo and rinse as usual afterward.

 

7. Jojoba Oil

Did you know jojoba oil isn’t actually oil? It’s a wax that’s extracted from the jojoba shrub that grows in southwestern United States and northern Mexico. We know, we know, it’s cheating since it isn’t technically an oil, but wait until you see what it does to your hair!

Jojoba oil is an excellent source of various vitamins like A, D, and E. Like coconut oil, it works on all hair types but is especially effective for damaged hair as it helps repair and promote new hair growth.

To use jojoba oil, pour a spoonful or so of it into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it up until it gets warm to the touch—you don’t want it scalding as it’ll just be a pain on your scalp and fingers. Then, coat your hands with the jojoba oil and start running it down your hair, making sure you leave 1-inch from the base of your scalp.

Leave it on for 20 minutes then wash it off.
